How Much Does CleanMyMac Cost? Subscription vs One-Time

By Appicker Team5 min read

CleanMyMac is not free beyond a 7-day trial, and you pay in one of two ways: a subscription or a one-time purchase. On MacPaw's official store, checked on 2026-10-24, one Mac cost $156.42 as a one-time purchase and $52.10 for a year. The one-time license covers the current major version only, so the right choice depends on how long you plan to keep using the app.

Prices below come from macpaw.com/store/cleanmymac and MacPaw's editions support page. Official prices change with promotions, currency and local tax, so treat the numbers as a snapshot dated 2026-10-24 and check the store before you pay.

How much does CleanMyMac cost?

The official store sells CleanMyMac on a per-Mac basis. The editions page lists plans for 1, 2 or 5 Macs on MacPaw's own store, 1, 2 or 4 Macs through Setapp, and "your Apple Account devices" through the App Store. Within a plan, the core features are the same, and you choose a billing style.

For a single Mac, the store showed these numbers on 2026-10-24:

OptionWhat you payWhat you get
Yearly subscription, 1 Mac$52.10 per year (the page showed this as a discounted price)All updates and all future major upgrades while subscribed
One-time purchase, 1 Mac$156.42 onceUpdates for the current major version, no major upgrades
Free trial$0 for 7 daysFull functionality, offered on every official channel

The yearly price was shown with a "Save 67%" label, which looks like a promotion, so it may be higher at other times. Prices for 2 and 5 Macs are on the store page and depend on your country. We did not copy them here because they move around.

Is CleanMyMac a subscription or a one-time purchase?

Both. MacPaw's editions page says a subscription is available on the MacPaw Store, the App Store and Setapp. A one-time purchase is available on the MacPaw Store and the App Store, but not on Setapp. Every subscription includes all future upgrades.

That last point is the real difference. A one-time purchase is "buy once, keep that version." The app keeps receiving updates for its current major version, but when MacPaw releases a new major version, you do not get it for free. MacPaw gives an example on the same page: a one-time license of CleanMyMac X does not include an upgrade to the latest CleanMyMac. Owners of an earlier paid version can get a discounted upgrade on the MacPaw store, which the page says can be up to 50%.

Is CleanMyMac free?

You can try it for free for 7 days with full functionality. After that, you need a subscription or a license. MacPaw's editions page does not describe a permanent free version, and older support articles describe trial limits that may not match the current app, so do not count on a free tier.

If cost is the main concern, macOS already includes basic storage tools. Our guide to freeing up disk space on a Mac covers what you can do without paying for anything.

What does a lifetime license not cover?

Three things worth knowing before you click buy.

  • Future major versions. A one-time purchase covers the version you bought. Newer major versions are a separate purchase or a subscription.
  • Other Macs. A license is tied to a number of Macs. A 1 Mac license covers one Mac, so a second computer needs a second license or a larger plan.
  • Old names. The app used to be called CleanMyMac X. The current product is simply CleanMyMac, and it requires macOS 11 or later. If you see an old "X" lifetime license offered somewhere, check which version it covers.

Which should you choose?

If this sounds like youBetter fit
You want the newest version every time MacPaw ships a major releaseYearly subscription
You want to pay once, and the current version already does what you needOne-time purchase
You want to test it before decidingThe 7-day trial, then either option
You have more than one MacA multi-Mac plan from the official store, compared against two single licenses
You mostly need to reclaim disk space onceA one-year subscription, or the trial plus macOS's own storage tools

If you only clean a Mac once or twice a year, a year of subscription is often enough. If you use it regularly and are happy with the version you have today, a one-time purchase avoids renewals. Neither is better in every case, and the free options built into macOS are enough for some people.

What do we sell?

Appicker is an authorized MacPaw reseller, and the CleanMyMac codes we sell come directly from MacPaw. We offer two kinds, both for 1 Mac:

  • 1 Year: a subscription that does not auto-renew. When it ends, most features lock until you start a new plan.
  • Life Time Access: a one-time purchase, which does not include future major versions.

To activate, go to macpaw.com/redeem, enter your code, sign in or create a MacPaw account, and choose Go To Account to activate. MacPaw's 30-day refund guarantee applies to purchases made on the MacPaw website. Codes bought from us follow our refund policy.

You can see current options on the CleanMyMac product page. If the official price fits you better, buying from macpaw.com is also a fine choice.
